About the role

The position is located in the General Services Agency. Responsibilities include providing project management, liaison, inspection and contract administration for the design, construction and modification of County buildings and structures. The incumbent will serve as the primary point of contact for customers, contractors, and stakeholders while managing all phases of a project including budget, scheduling, controls and client relations.

Requirements

  • The equivalent of five years’ full-time, progressively responsible experience in project management in the areas of construction management, design management, architecture or related fields.
  • Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Construction Management, Engineering, (Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical), Architecture, or a closely related field may substitute for two years of required experience.
  • Must be able to travel to locations throughout the County.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of federal, state and local codes, statutes, and regulations pertaining to public building projects; principles and practices of project management; cost estimating and cost control techniques; budget preparation; government purchasing and bidding policies, practices and procedures; professional services contracting; computer technology, including project management systems and software.
  • Ability: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people; communicate effectively in writing; orally communicate in an effective manner; prepare and deliver effective presentations to governing boards, the public and a variety of audiences; plan and organize; analyze and solve problems; organize and coordinate the various elements of a major project; manage the work of project consultants and staff working on a project; adapt to changing priorities.

  • Deferred Compensation program with an eligible employee who works at least 50% of their standard hours in a pay period can voluntarily contribute on a pre-tax basis, a minimum of $10 up to a total annual contribution of $16,500 for the 2009 plan year.

Additional Information

  • Veteran's Preference: Those claiming additional preference points as a VETERAN must submit a copy of the DD214 form on the day of the oral examination. Those claiming additional preference points as a DISABLED VETERAN must submit a copy of the DD214 form and a letter from the Department of Veteran Affairs confirming eligibility for additional points on the day of the oral examination.
