About the role
Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist to support the company's EH&S team at the Clayville, NY site. This role involves fostering employee engagement and driving risk reduction and continuous improvement of the EH&S program.
Responsibilities
- Taking proactive steps to ensure the safety and health of site employees and influencing safe behaviors
- Recognizing, evaluating, and controlling hazardous workplace conditions
- Working with subject matter experts to assure compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company EHS requirements
- Executing initiatives, programs, reports, and trainings across multiple EH&S disciplines to achieve and maintain compliance
- Auditing and evaluating current policies, procedures, and documentation to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Investigating, analyzing, and interpreting data from injuries and near-misses ensuring corrective actions are completed on time, and all necessary documentation is in place
- Preparing and managing documentation relating to environmental, health & safety policies in preparation for audit; providing proper documentation in preparation for permits and liaising with governmental bodies
- Overseeing programs related to waste, water, air management, hazardous waste, and environmental remediation
- Developing and advising employee workplace programs related to emergency response, workers compensation, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene
- Maintaining EH&S Management System Conformance
- Achieving and maintaining consistency of EH&S record keeping and documentation with organizational and regulatory policy
- Collaborating across departments to achieve and maintain consistency of EH&S program implementation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years' experience working in environmental health and safety OR a Master's degree and 3 or more years of relevant experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Experience working with OSHA, Federal and State environmental regulations in an aerospace manufacturing facility
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field of study
- Experience managing EH&S issues in a manufacturing environment with constantly shifting priorities
- Experience working at an OSHA VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) site
- Demonstrated experience organizing and managing multiple projects and programs in a rapidly fluctuating environment
- Professional Certification in the EH&S field (ASP, CSP, CIH, etc.)
