Environmental Health & Safety Specialist
Position Summary
Responsible for supporting, coordinating, implementing and/or conducting environmental, safety, and health activities. Assists in ensuring employees are trained in environmental, safety, and health policies and procedures. Facilitates a proactive safety program that actively involves employees through safety teams and committees. Ensures service centers are compliant with all local, state, and federal environmental and safety laws and regulations. Supports and assists with the administration and maintenance of all environmental and safety programs.
Responsibilities
- Drive the personal and/or team implementation of “WE LEAD WITH SAFETY”.
- Promote the company's safety culture and lead programs to enhance the safety culture.
- Maintain and report EHS metrics and records for the Electrical Reliability Services Business.
- Achieve improvements related to work hazards, safety training, and safety audits.
- Manage records and logs as required by OSHA.
- Support customer sites with safety issues and problems.
- Facilitate and participate in Safety Committees.
- Involvement with Fleet Safety Program, including vehicle incident management, trend analysis, and safety initiatives.
- Measure and monitor environmental impacts in accordance with Environmental Policy and government regulations.
- Develop, implement, and ensure the consistency and adequacy of necessary plans, procedures, and strategies.
- Interface with all levels of the organization.
- Conduct accident investigations and analyses to identify necessary improvements.
- Have a strong working knowledge of Electrical Safety and NFPA 70E.
- Conduct safety audits and hazard assessments when appropriate in conjunction with applicable safety programs and/or regulations.
- Work with the Workers’ Compensation program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree desired, preferably in Electrical, Occupational Health and Safety or Safety Science.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Electrical work (low and medium voltage) and/or Construction.
- Strong organizational and research skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Broad knowledge of environmental, health, safety, NFPA 70E, Electrical, and DOT regulatory compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work with necessary levels of management in integrating safe and healthy behaviors in day-to-day operations.
Time Travel Required
40-50% travel required.
