JOB SUMMARY AND KEY OBJECTIVES

The EHS Specialist will support environmental, health, and safety at the Sumitomo Biorational, Osage facility and provide monthly support to the MGK Chaska facility. The individual will ensure compliance with state, local, and federal regulations, as well as company Responsible Care policies.

  • Support the EHS Manager and Osage Site Leadership Team to achieve EHS vision and goals.
  • Execute and track completion of site EHS compliance calendar activities.
  • Develop and deliver training programs.
  • Solicit feedback to improve EHS initiatives.
  • Investigate incidents and near misses to mitigate risks.
  • Communicate compliance risks to the organization.
  • Teach regulatory and technical knowledge to operations staff.
  • Perform compliance sampling, monitoring, data gathering, inspections, and audits.
  • Aid in new hire orientation and department safety teams.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis, Risk Factor Index determinations, and SPOT observations.
  • Aid in manufacturing safe work permits, lock out/tag out, and other activities.
  • Conduct building and grounds surveys to detect code violations, hazards, and incorrect work practices and procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • A minimum of 3 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA compliance and recordkeeping.
  • Strong communication skills in group presentations, individual interactions, and written documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, be self-starter, and as part of the team.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (Major in Engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or related field).
  • OSHA 30 hour Certification.
  • Certification as CSP and / or CHMM is a plus.

  • Base Salary: $70,500 to $92,500.
