Responsibilities

  • Perform as an effective facilitator to influence development of a proactive approach to health and environmental issues.
  • Assure that sound Environmental and Health Management systems are in place.
  • Anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control health hazards.
  • Provide input into problem-solving and implementation relative to those hazards.
  • Maintain updated OSHA and EPA required written programs and develop/conduct training as necessary.
  • Support in the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Manage Environmental Programs and overall compliance with Federal and State regulatory agencies.
  • Conduct safety and environmental related audits.
  • Assist in injury, accident, and fire investigation reporting.
  • File Worker’s Compensation claims and maintain records.
  • Accompany employees on initial physician visits for work related injuries.
  • Update plant safety and environmental metrics.
  • Aid in the implementation and management of the plants BBS Program.
  • Manage safety incentive programs.
  • Coordinate Industrial Hygiene, hearing, and respirator fit testing and First Aid, CPR, and AED training.
  • Maintain OSHA and EPA required records.
  • Develop a daily toolbox talk database.
  • Maintain/update the plant’s Safety Data Sheet database and ensure compliance with the Hazard Communication Standard/GHS.
  • Participate on the plant Safety Committee.
  • Develop JSAs and update SOPs for plant processes.
  • Share on-call duties for night and weekend incidents.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the EHS Manager; serve as second in command to EHS Manager within department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple accountabilities and multiple internal customers.
  • Strong analytical skills as well as organizational skills.
  • Solid project management capabilities with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously from origin through execution.
  • Well-developed leadership and motivational skills with proven ability to influence and motivate others to quickly achieve results.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule during key business deadlines.
  • Ability to travel (5%) in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
