Essential Duties

  • Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Advise the VP Risk & Safety as well as Operations Leaders on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations.
  • Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines.
  • Manage incident reports, workers compensation cases, metrics, and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment.
  • Enforce Health & Safety regulations.
  • Perform safety meetings, safety conference calls, and tool box talks to the appropriate employee level.
  • Perform Job hazard analysis', safety audits, inspections and behavioral observations.
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Observe work and monitor workers to ensure that operators conform to environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Conduct employee training in safety policy and procedures.
  • Confer with management to resolve environmental, health and safety violations, hazards, risks or work practices.
  • Gather appropriate metrics and calculate labor and safety metrics requirements and specifications, using standard formulas.
  • Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve awareness, safe production methods, equipment, or efficiency while maintaining.

Qualifications

  • Degree or certificate in environmental health, safety or business or related field
  • 3+ years of EHS experience required
  • Solid understanding of Washington State Workers Compensation process and Retro Group program
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA Federal requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
  • Excellent organizational skills
