About the Role
Coordinates, implements, administers, and evaluates Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs that ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local requirements to support the EHS Department.
Responsibilities
- Assist EHS Manager with Health & Safety programs including but not limited to: employee occupational health, respiratory protection control, hazard communication, first aid, personal protective equipment safety, hazardous waste, and wastewater.
- Participate in the development and administration of EH&S training program(s) that increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety and environmental awareness throughout the organization.
- Assist in occupational exposure and safety assessments (including process safety analysis) reporting the results and making recommendations for changes as directed.
- Maintain knowledge of, apply, and adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations as pertaining to EH&S.
- Coordinate the activities of site safety committees.
- Administer simple to moderately complex occupational health programs for accident prevention, injury reporting, post-accident follow-up and investigation, medical surveillance, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, formaldehyde exposure, lock-out/tag-out, and others as required.
- Coordinate environmental programs for hazardous waste, biomedical waste, wastewater monitoring, and pollution prevention.
- Serve as a resource and support for EH&S Programs at nonclinical sites as directed.
- Track, investigate, and follow up on workplace injuries and illnesses as directed.
- Track status and compliance with occupational health requirements for employees.
- Recognize, investigate, and recommend mitigation of environmental and occupational health and safety hazards.
- Coordinate and arrange for in-service occupational health and safety training classes and maintain training records required for regulatory compliance.
- Conduct respirator fit tests and training.
- Participate in submitting applicable reports to adhere to all federal, state, and local reporting guidelines. File annual reports where required by regulatory agencies.
- Submit purchase order requisitions for health & safety equipment, materials, and literature.
- Assist in conducting facility inspections, monitor safety supplies and equipment, and restock first aid and other emergency kits as needed.
- Assist in conducting ergonomic assessments and job hazard analyses as directed.
- Perform sample collection for formaldehyde monitoring, noise monitoring, and other exposure monitoring as required.
- Maintain written and database records with knowledge of computer software and web-based data storage.
- Conduct other routine EH&S functions as needed.
- May assist with workers compensation claim management as needed.
- May assist employees with response to work-related injuries (e.g., first aid, transportation, etc.) as needed.
- May assist Security Department with emergency planning, drills, and employee training.
- Facilitate EHS onboarding training, as directed.
Requirements
- BA or BS degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, public health, environmental health, or related 4-year degree or education and experience to fulfill essential duties of the position.
- 3+ years of experience working in Environmental/Occupational Health and Safety or related field. Prefer experience in a biomedical research/pre-clinical environment.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills.
- Personal/professional integrity and proven discretion in handling confidential information.
- Ability to develop strong trusting relationships to gain support and achieve results.
- Capable of managing multiple conflicting priorities.
- Self-directed, motivated, and willing to take initiative to identify and anticipate client needs and make recommendations for implementation.
- Relevant industry experience a plus.
- Ability to successfully operate independently with minimal guidelines.

Pay
The pay range estimated for this position is $26.00 - $40.00 hourly. Hourly rates/salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, prior relevant experience, skills, education, certification, location, as well as internal equity and market data.
