About the role
The Field EHS Manager is responsible for visible, onsite leadership of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) during construction, commissioning, and operational interface activities. This position centers on identifying hazards, leading risks, engaging contractors, and upholding focused execution so that all tasks are conducted safely, in compliance with regulations, and according to both company-wide and site-specific EHS standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to ensure compliance with Air Products guidelines, local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and ISO standards.
- Support Risk Assessments, including job hazard analysis (JHA) and HAZID studies, to prioritize controls and implement corrective actions that reduce incident frequency and severity.
- Lead EHS Inspection program to ensure regular inspections and audits are being conducted and identifying potential hazards related to project scopes of work and establish corrective action plans to address project EHS discrepancies.
- Support Emergency Preparedness: including developing and coordinating emergency response plans, conducting drills, and ensuring employees are equipped to respond effectively to incidents such as fires, chemical spills, or natural disasters.
- Support EHS plans development and implementation: EHS Managers will develop and implement safety and environmental plans to ensure compliance with Air Products EHS guidelines and requirements.
Requirements
- Strong solid understanding of federal, state, and local EHS regulations applicable to construction.
- Capable to conduct and lead detailed incident investigations (root cause analysis, 5-Why, fault tree analysis), produce corrective action plans, track closures, and communicate lessons learned across operations to prevent recurrence.
- Able to plan and implement scheduled EHS audits and inspections (internal, supplier, contractor, regulatory) including audit scopes, findings, corrective action follow-up, and KPI reporting to leadership.
- Capable of developing and tracking EHS performance metrics and dashboards (TRIR, LTIR, near-miss reporting, lost time, leading indicators) to drive data-informed decisions and visible EHS performance improvements.
- Experience Leading hazardous materials, COSHH/SDS programs, chemical inventory control, spill prevention, and response planning, and ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal practices.
- Experience Overseeing emergency preparedness and response: develop site emergency response plans, conduct drills (fire, chemical release, active shooter), coordinate with local emergency services and maintain business continuity input.
- Experience Leading industrial hygiene programs including air and noise monitoring, exposure assessments, PPE selection, and recommendations to meet permissible exposure limits and protect workforce health.
- Experience coordinating environmental compliance programs: air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, waste management, permitting, and reporting; interact with regulators for inspections and permit renewals.
- Experience coordinating and leading risk assessment programs.

- Computer Skills: Must be able to demonstrate computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as PC based programs.
