About the role
Techno is seeking a dedicated Environmental Health & Safety Manager to oversee safety performance on a large-scale infrastructure improvement program at an active treatment and operations facility in New York City.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provide daily safety leadership and oversight for ongoing construction activities within an active industrial facility.
- Monitor field operations to verify compliance with project safety requirements, environmental controls, permits, and regulatory obligations.
- Perform site inspections, safety evaluations, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Review work plans, activity hazard analyses, permits, and task-specific safety documentation prior to construction activities.
- Work closely with contractors, supervisors, and project stakeholders to reinforce safe work practices and maintain compliance expectations.
- Lead incident investigations, near-miss reviews, and corrective action implementation efforts.
- Facilitate safety meetings, new worker orientations, toolbox talks, and specialized training sessions.
- Track safety metrics and prepare reports documenting inspections, observations, incidents, and corrective measures.
- Serve as a visible safety leader in the field, helping foster a culture where safety remains a core project value.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of environmental health and safety experience supporting construction projects.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety practices, and hazard mitigation techniques.
- Experience supporting infrastructure, utility, industrial, water, wastewater, or heavy civil construction projects.
- Familiarity with high-risk activities such as confined space entry, excavation, mechanical construction, energized systems, and heavy equipment operations.
- OSHA 30 certification required.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed documentation and compliance records.
- Ability to work full-time on-site within an active construction and operational environment.
- Experience working on projects involving treatment facilities, utility infrastructure, process systems, or industrial operations.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CHST, CIH, ASP, or equivalent are beneficial.
