Job Summary The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the coordination, planning, and execution of our plant safety initiatives. The Environmental Health & Safety Manager will also provide guidance and direction for the plant’s safety management program ensuring that we maintain a safe working environment for our employees. This position will support our Wheeling, IL manufacturing plant. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Influence behavior and inspire commitment on the part of all employees to comply with Richelieu Foods safety and health standards and work environment. Ensure compliance with company safety and environmental programs and applicable federal, state, and local regulations by monitoring program effectiveness, conducting audits, identifying risks, and recommending corrective actions. Oversee incident investigation processes including a review of all injury / illness / non-injury incident investigation reports. Develop, manage, and conduct safety and environmental audits, inspections, and observations; perform root cause analyses and recommend corrective and preventive actions. Participate as an active member of the Plant leadership team. Lead the tracking and assessment of safety and environmental requirements and maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics reporting to onsite management teams. Conduct risk assessments related to jobs performed (Job Hazard Analysis) and new equipment introductions. Recommend appropriate risk mitigation measures to management, including ergonomic considerations, in all such efforts. Develop, facilitate, and assess effectiveness of plant safety training programs including new hire safety orientation, standard work training for hourly positions, monthly management team leadership training, and specialized safety training as required. Collaborate with site safety leaders across the Company in the development and implementation of safety focused policies, programs, and objectives. Assist in the development and administration of company safety incentive programs, including the evaluation of the effectiveness of such programs in positively changing employee behavior. Represent the company both internally and externally, as the subject matter expert in all safety and environmental issues. Monitor waste management and recycling activities to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations. Analyze environmental monitoring data and prepare compliance reports and permits. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety or related field 5-7 years of progressive safety leadership experience Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety management principles, including Combustible Dust, PSM, LOTO, Hot Work, Permit Required Confined Space Entry, PIT, and MEWPs. Proficient in various risk assessment and root cause analysis methods. Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge; advanced in Excel. Preferred Qualifications Manufacturing experience CSP/CIH/OHST certification Essential Skills And Abilities Must be an effective communicator, able to work both independently, and in teams of various sizes. Strong ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines with detail orientated focus on results. Demonstrated effective interaction with regulatory agencies and senior business leaders. Demonstrated ability to influence management, teams and individuals across multiple functions. Working Conditions On-Site: This role requires 100% onsite attendance to perform the essential functions of the role Pay And Benefits The following information is provided in accordance with applicable state and local laws. Compensation is based on experience, geographic locations, and other legally permitted factors. The expected compensation range for this role is $110,000 and $130,000. This role is also eligible for an annual incentive plan bonus.
