About the role
The Environmental Leader position at Howmet Whitehall Operation, Whitehall, MI facility is a key member of the location’s EHS Team. The successful candidate will work within the company’s environmental, health, and safety (EHS) values and leadership’s commitment to provide an excellent environment to work and deliver results.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of EHS policies and procedures
- Lead EHS audits and assessments
- Develop and implement training programs for employees
- Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and standards
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports (e.g., TRI and Tier 2)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address environmental issues
- Conduct environmental risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies
- Participate in emergency response activities
Qualifications
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
- A minimum of 3 years of environmental experience in manufacturing or similar environments
- A minimum of 1 year of leadership experience
- Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Preferred Qualifications:
- BS degree in environmental, health or safety related discipline
- 5 years of environmental experience in manufacturing or similar environments
- Experience with computer systems such as spreadsheets and technical applications
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret EHS regulations and standards and other technical reports and data
- TRI and Tier 2 reporting experience
- Ability to write reports, correspondence and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and employees
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete requirements in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret and apply Federal, State of Michigan and local regulations
