About the role

We are seeking innovators, collaborators, and problem solvers for our Internship/Co-Op Program, which cultivates future talent through experiential on-the-job learning, a dynamic environment, access to business leaders, and a supportive team. As an Environmental Health & Safety Summer Intern, you will complete assignments focused on process improvement initiatives and collaborate with plant leadership teams in state-of-the-art facilities. This internship serves as a talent pipeline for our Early Careers Program in Environmental Health and Safety and throughout the organization. The role is based in Northeast Ohio, with travel to sites across North America for week-long assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to each MG-NA site and complete a waste process flow matrix by documenting each waste generated, how it is disposed, and which vendor currently receives the waste.
  • Conduct line-by-line permit reviews and audit each site, identifying gaps.
  • Review and audit site compliance calendars for completeness and effectiveness.
  • Monitor environmental and sustainability data for anomalies and negative trends.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership teams on process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health and Science or Engineering with a focus on Environmental Studies, Sustainability, or manufacturing.
  • Comfortable with relocation now and in the future.
  • Ability to travel 10-20% of the time.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Qualifications

  • Preferred experience: Previous internship/co-op or relevant work experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience via student organizations such as Engineers without Borders, Environmental Health and Sciences Association, American Society of Chemical Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers, or Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
  • Volunteerism or similar activities.

Pay

The hourly salary for this position is $25.50 - $29/hour, based on academic progress. Actual salaries may vary within this range depending on skills, experience, education, location, and job scope.
