Environmental Health & Safety Engineer Sr

About the Role

As an Environmental Safety and Health Engineer with Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), your role is pivotal in ensuring a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. You will provide comprehensive environmental, safety, and health services, focusing on both operational and strategic aspects of the site's Industrial Hygiene programs and the Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) management system. You will also support teams engaged across RMS.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive environmental, safety, and health services to maintain a secure and compliant workplace, including areas such as Ergonomics, Injury and Accident Investigations, Fall Protection, EPCRA reporting, Stormwater Management, Communications, ESH Metrics and Trends, ESH Management System, ESH Training Management, ESH Procedure Management, Safety Committees, Emergency Evacuations & Crisis Management, Electrical Safety, Contractor Safety, Cranes & Slings, Hazard Communication, and Powered Industrial Trucks.
• Represent the organization at various levels, effectively conveying the company's strategy and objectives.
• Offer leadership and team support to ESH department members.
• Interpret, recommend, and comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations and/or company policies.
• Assist in planning for changes in physical facilities to meet new environmental requirements.
• Find, evaluate, and prepare contracts for properly licensed hazardous and radioactive waste disposal firms and monitor waste handling.
• Organize and equip spill-control teams.
• Write and update environmental and spill-control manuals and procedures.
• Prepare environmental impact statements and apply for all new permits and renewals.
• Provide input to federal and state regulators through trade associations and industry groups for the writing and revision of regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with 3 years or more of professional experience.
• Experience with OSHA, safety and health standards, EPA, state, and local environmental regulations and programs.
• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD Secret clearance.

Desired Skills

• Professional ESH experience in a manufacturing, test, or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA and Environmental requirements, regulations, and associated compliance programs.
• Strong working knowledge of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) programs, including ergonomics, fall protection, electrical safety, confined spaces, and hazard communication.
• Experience conducting injury, accident, and close call investigations, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
• Experience leading or supporting safety committees and cross-functional efforts.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage employees at all levels and promote a positive safety culture.
• Knowledge of emergency preparedness, evacuation planning, and crisis management practices.
• Experience with industrial safety programs, including cranes & slings, machine guarding, aerial lifts, and powered industrial trucks.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and programs simultaneously.
• Proficiency in problem-solving, risk assessment, and hazard identification techniques.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and be flexible.
• Ability to work effectively within a diverse population and collaborate with peers and leadership.

For Washington state applicants only: Non-represented full-time employees accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $72,500.00 - $134,600.00. The salary range is a general guideline and considers factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, as well as market (work location) and business considerations when extending an offer.
