About the role
This position is onsite in an office/manufacturing setting in Cherry Hill, NJ (08002). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry, along with strong communication and writing skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all waste management practices to ensure proper facility handling, including proper identification of waste streams, storage, disposal, waste manifest documentation, and other associated duties.
- Assist in writing and reviewing all safety-related SOPs and preparation and implementation of safety-training programs for employees.
- Coordinate safety-training requirements for outside contractors and ensure proper documentation of training.
- Perform periodic Health & Safety and various other audits to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Perform environmental monitoring including monthly and as-needed air testing and periodic audible testing.
- Assist in all aspects of providing PPE to employees.
- Assist in internal emergency response regarding spills and evacuations.
- On occasion, work with hazardous chemicals and waste.
Requirements
- Understanding of OSHA, EPA, NJDEP, BATF, DOT, CAA, CWW, and RTK regulations and reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of chemical properties, associated hazards, proper labeling, and storage requirements.
- Familiar with SDS sheets and their requirements.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials emergency response actions, including spill containment, cleanup, and reporting requirements.
- Four-year degree in Environmental Science or other scientific discipline, or relevant work experience in the hazardous material regulatory or safety field.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

- Physical Demands: Employee is required to walk; stand; sit; use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend; kneel and climb; and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs. May seldomly be required to maneuver and move 30 to 55-gallon drums and up to 450 pounds utilizing proper ergonomic handling equipment and/or techniques.
- Work Environment: This position is located in a manufacturing facility. Employees frequently work near moving mechanical equipment. Noise intensity level: moderate to loud. Employees may work with hazardous contaminants. This role requires working both in an office and manufacturing environment, as well as inside/outside. Employees must adhere to all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and/or gowning requirements.
Pay
$70,000 – $85,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
Schedule
8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility.
