About the role

As an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist, you will help foster a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace by supporting key EHS programs and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements. You will partner closely with site leadership, operations teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to monitor compliance efforts, support incident prevention initiatives, and contribute to a strong culture of safety.

Your work will include tracking permits, audits, regulatory obligations, and safety performance metrics, as well as supporting investigations, root cause analyses, and continuous improvement efforts. This position offers the opportunity to expand your technical EHS knowledge while contributing to meaningful projects that improve workplace safety and environmental stewardship.

You will support employee training, maintain critical documentation, assist with contractor safety oversight, and collaborate on initiatives such as Management of Change reviews, Pre-Start Safety Reviews, industrial hygiene monitoring, and certification programs. Success in this role comes from strong communication skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and a commitment to driving a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Participate in facility assessments, audits, inspections, and corrective action processes.
• Support environmental, health, and safety programs that protect employees, the community, and company operations.
• Track permits, audits, regulatory obligations, and safety performance metrics.
• Support investigations, root cause analyses, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Support employee training and maintain critical documentation.
• Assist with contractor safety oversight.
• Collaborate on initiatives such as Management of Change reviews, Pre-Start Safety Reviews, industrial hygiene monitoring, and certification programs.
• Travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events up to 5% of the time.

Requirements

• High school diploma or state-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of EHS experience or comparable military experience.
• Bachelor of Science degree plus 2 years of EHS experience, OMDP/TMDP experience, or comparable military experience.
• Bachelor of Science in EHS (Accredited EHS program).
• Master's degree and 4 years of EHS experience.
• Skilled in developing clear written communications, procedures, and work instructions.
• Ability to present information effectively to a wide variety of audiences.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
• Ability to source, read, and understand EHS regulations as published by government agencies.
• Valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and reliable vehicle (if applicable). This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR).
• Must be 18 years or older.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in EHS (Accredited EHS program) and/or possession of EHS-related certifications (Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)).
• Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM).
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Pay

$77,400 - $116,200 per year. Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. This position may also be eligible for bonuses, incentive plans, or participate in tasting room tip pools, as applicable.

This is an onsite, full-time position based in South Carolina with no telecommuting option. You will be expected to live within a commutable distance.
