About the role
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and organizational standards. Serving as a subject matter expert, this role provides guidance on EHS compliance, conducts audits and training, and supports risk and hazard management across operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs and management systems in compliance with ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct EHS audits, inspections, investigations, job safety analyses, and risk assessments, and implement corrective and preventive actions to mitigate hazards and improve workplace safety.
- Monitor workplace conditions to ensure a safe, compliant environment for employees, contractors, visitors, and customers.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis, partnering with operational leadership to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Deliver EHS training, maintain chemical inventories, and support hazard communication and exposure control programs.
- Prepare regulatory, audit, and performance reports, including analysis of EHS metrics and key performance indicators.
- Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to administer EHS programs, support management reviews, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Sure all permits remain current and exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or unacceptable risks are identified.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Environmental Health & Safety, a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of EHS management systems and regulatory requirements, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and OSHA regulations.
- Experience applying federal, state, and local EHS regulations and supporting regulatory compliance.
- Experience conducting EHS audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis.
- Ability to prepare clear technical reports and communicate EHS requirements effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal EHS or ISO auditor training.
- Experience establishing or auditing EHS programs in a manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with related standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or QSR environments.
- Experience with permitting and regulatory compliance in electronics or computer hardware manufacturing.
- Experience supporting EHS management reviews or Safety Committee leadership.
