About the Role

M1 is looking for an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager who will be responsible for the successful management of EHS activities in the Quality and Safety Branch of the Columbus Aircraft Maintenance Program in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS). This role reports to the Program Quality Manager and Company EHS Director as appropriate, and interfaces with internal and external customers, including higher headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Program-wide Safety surveillance, reporting, enforcement, and education activities.
  • Ensure all activities comply with the Performance Work Statement, Air Force Instructions, Technical Orders, and company policies.
  • Develop and implement an Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Program, a base-specific Safety and Health Plan, and safety programs for employees that comply with OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.
  • Establish and maintain a Radiation Safety Program, confined space training, an Electro Static Discharge Program, and a Flight, Explosive, and Ground Mishap Prevention Program.
  • Attend applicable meetings as required and represent the company professionally in terms of attire, business courtesies, ethics, and customer culture.
  • Maintain surveillance over operations to detect areas of accident or injury potential, unsafe acts, or conditions, and take immediate corrective action.
  • Ensure environmental and safety training for all sections and departments.
  • Deal with customers and company employees in a courteous, professional, and effective manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a related field highly desired; High School Diploma is the minimum requirement.
  • Minimum 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience with at least 3 years of environmental and safety management experience.
  • Working knowledge of computers and basic software programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Must obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Current valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Working Conditions

Environment ranges from office-like settings to hangar and flight line. Physical demands include extensive sitting, climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking.
