About the Role
The Environmental, Health, and Safety Director leads, monitors, and advises the Division Environmental, Health, and Safety Managers (EHS) and Safety Specialists by overseeing initiatives that drive the company's safety strategic plan, while overseeing all aspects of the safety program.
Responsibilities
- Communicate daily with EHS Manager and Safety Specialists to ensure consistency throughout all divisions and maintain open lines of communication with Operations VPs and escalate issues as needed.
- Be a direct contact for all Operations VP's.
- Partner and lead EHS requirements with Technical Services.
- Manage and staff the team while providing direct priorities.
- Collaborate with Director EHS Programs to implement change and sustain EHS programs to meet or exceed Federal and State regulatory requirements.
- Direct all investigations, including accident, near miss, and emergency events to ensure all company policies are followed, and investigations are thorough.
- Work with EHS Regulatory Manager in response to regulatory activity.
- Build and maintain relationships with customer EHS, including understanding and communicating customer EHS requirements, participating in customer reviews, and communicating regularly with customer EHS.
- Evaluate analytical data to identify trends in injury types. Initiate corrective actions through the EHS Team as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Active Driver's License.
- Degree in EHS or Extensive background in safety compliance field.
- 5 or more years in EHS Compliance position.
- 10 or more years of experience in Sanitation.
- 5 or more years of people management.
- Demonstrated experience creating sustainable processes.
- Knowledge of government regulations (EPA, OSHA, State and CCOHS).
- Ability to work well within a team, including adherence to core values and dynamic corporate culture.
- Self-motivated with attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
- Must be willing to project goals for company growth.
- Be adaptable to various assignments and non-routine tasks.
Work Environment
This position is based in your home office, when not travelling to the corporate headquarters, customer, or plant locations which may require the use of PPE including safety glasses, hardhat, ear protection, and/or other protective equipment/clothing. Walking, standing, sitting, and computer work are all required in this environment. Sitting for extended periods of time when travelling (mostly driving) is also required.
