Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance Lead
About The Opportunity
At QIAGEN, you play a critical role in ensuring a safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible workplace. As EHS Compliance Lead, you take ownership of site environmental programs, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications. This position combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution, requiring strong technical expertise, independent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. You collaborate closely with site leadership, employees, auditors, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with corporate standards and applicable regulations while fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
Your tasks include
- Lead the maintenance and continuous improvement of the site's ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, including coordination and hosting of external audits.
- Drive environmental, health, and safety compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to corporate requirements and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct and manage risk assessments, inspections, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Oversee environmental performance tracking, reporting, and key EHS metrics, providing regular updates to site leadership.
- Manage the EHS internal audit program and support ongoing readiness for regulatory and certification audits.
- Deliver EHS training, presentations, and awareness programs that promote a proactive safety culture across the site.
- Maintain SDS management systems and support emergency response program preparedness and continuous improvement activities.
Your profile
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, or a related discipline; equivalent combinations of education and experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety roles, including at least 3 years supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 implementation or maintenance.
- Proven experience conducting audits, including Lead Auditor experience, with strong knowledge of EHS management systems and regulatory requirements.
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including experience with incident investigations, root cause analysis, risk mitigation, and ergonomics assessments.
- Experience maintaining emergency response programs; laboratory environment experience is highly preferred.
- Excellent project management, organizational, communication, and technical writing skills, with the ability to develop SOPs and related documentation.
- CSP, CIH, or similar professional certification is desirable but not required.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is expected.
Pay
The estimated base salary range for this position is $105,000-$125,000. Compensation will be based on the candidate's experience, skills, geographic location, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, we offer a total compensation package that includes a commission plan, annual bonus, and generous benefits.
