Environmental Group Manager
Description of Work
This role oversees a team that manages conservation, restoration, inspection, and compliance work for waterways, wetlands, agriculture, and related environmental programs. It requires coordination across multiple offices, consistent communication, and strong leadership in program operations. As an Environmental Group Manager, you will perform the following duties:
- Staff Communication: Ensure staff stay informed about policies, initiatives, and guidance that support effective work
- Program Coordination: Work with multiple offices to maintain consistency in waterways, wetlands, and agricultural programs
- Compliance Oversight: Guide staff as they conduct inspections, investigations, and enforcement activities across assigned programs
- Data Management: Use and ensure staff use DEP databases to record information accurately and promptly
- Public Interaction: Provide information to officials, regulated entities, and community groups as needed
- Supervisory Leadership: Assign tasks, review work, handle personnel matters, and support professional development for staff
Qualifications Required
Required Experience, Training & Eligibility: A bachelor’s degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; and five years of professional environmental protection experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment: This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
