Environmental Engineering – AI Data Trainer About The Role We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need environmental engineers to make it happen. Your domain expertise will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex environmental challenges, from water treatment design to hazardous waste remediation. This is a unique opportunity to apply your graduate-level knowledge in a cutting-edge AI context, working remotely on your own schedule. Organization: AlignerrType: Hourly ContractLocation: RemoteCommitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do Design Advanced Technical Problems — Craft challenging environmental engineering scenarios across domains including contaminant transport, mass balance in treatment plants, hydrology, air quality modeling, and Life Cycle Assessments (LCA)Author Gold-Standard Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical responses featuring chemical dosage calculations, hydraulic flow models, and pollutant dispersion simulations that serve as benchmark answersAudit AI-Generated Outputs — Evaluate AI-produced remediation plans, environmental impact statements, and engineering calculations for technical accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance (EPA, ISO 14001, and others)Sharpen AI Reasoning — Identify and document model errors such as incorrect stoichiometry in biological treatment processes or overlooked secondary environmental impacts, and provide structured feedback to improve AI reasoning Who You Are Currently pursuing or have completed a Master's or PhD in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering (environmental focus), or a closely related fieldStrong foundational knowledge in one or more of: aquatic chemistry, wastewater process design, air quality engineering, or hazardous waste remediationAble to communicate complex engineering and ecological concepts clearly and precisely in writingMeticulous attention to detail — especially with unit conversions, chemical equations, and regulatory compliance logicNo prior AI experience required — we'll get you up to speed Nice to Have Experience with data annotation, data quality review, or evaluation systemsFamiliarity with environmental modeling software (e.g., AERMOD, SWMM, or similar)Background in EHS compliance or environmental permitting Why Join Us Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labsFully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits youFreelance autonomy with meaningful, intellectually stimulating workContribute to AI systems that will reason about real-world environmental problemsPotential for ongoing work and contract extension
