About the role

Join us at Georgia-Pacific, a global leader in building products and consumer goods, as an Environmental Engineer/Scientist at our Wheatfield, Indiana facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this role supports the development, implementation, and management of environmental compliance programs and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage compliance with federal (EPA) and state (IDEM) environmental program requirements, including air, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste, CERCLA/EPCRA, TSCA, and FCC regulations.
  • Implement and integrate Georgia-Pacific’s Environmental Management System (EMS) into the plant’s operations plan.
  • Analyze incident and compliance trend data, and lead investigations, mitigation, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate activities and prepare/submit reports to external agencies on schedule.
  • Manage hazardous materials program and mitigate workplace safety and environmental risks.
  • Identify and implement cost-effective solutions for environmental issues.
  • Train facility personnel on environmental regulations.
  • Obtain and maintain Method 9 Opacity certification and Indiana Wastewater Operator license.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Environmental Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with an Air Permit program.
  • Experience in environmental compliance and management systems.
