About the role

As an Environmental Engineer at Valero, you will support compliance with environmental regulations in specific areas including spill, upset, emission event, and reporting requirements. Your responsibilities also include ensuring timely and compliant completion of federal, state, or applicable government reporting obligations, maintaining operational records for compliance, and assisting with regulatory permitting tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with assigned Spill/Upset/Emission Event/Reporting requirements under all applicable regulations.
  • Complete assigned federal, state, or applicable government reporting obligations such as SARA 313 reports, Emission Inventories, NSPS Reports, MACT Reports, Annual Waste Summary Reports, LDAR reports, etc., in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Acquire, record, and retain operational records necessary to demonstrate compliance with assigned environmental regulations/programs.
  • Satisfy emission control equipment inspections required by environmental regulations and programs assigned, record these inspections, and report to state, federal, or other government authorities as applicable.
  • Aid in regulatory permitting tasks as needed.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with assigned environmental regulations and permits.
  • Generate reports/records to support demonstration of compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with Engineering and Operations personnel to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits is continually achieved.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and permit tasks assigned.
  • Read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation.
  • Absorb confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.
  • Provide thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
  • Communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.
  • Accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes.
  • Cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage of department responsibilities.
  • Multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.
  • Be skilled in using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).

Requirements

  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Wilmington Refinery, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering, or related Science is required.
  • 2 years of environmental engineering, or related refinery engineering experience required.
