About the role

Tetra Tech is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join our dynamic team. This remote position focuses on PFAS and other environmental contamination, supporting planning, design, and engineering services for a variety of projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement investigation and remediation projects, design and implementation, trouble shooting, and optimization of remediation engineering projects.
  • Develop remedial solutions for various government, commercial, and industrial sites for conventional contaminants (fuels, VOCs, metals) as well as emerging contaminants (PFAS, 1,4-Dioxane).
  • Evaluate chemical distribution and transport through soils, groundwater, surface water, and sediment to reach sound technical conclusions and document findings.
  • Plan and conduct tasks such as pilot tests and treatability studies, engineering designs, construction oversight, operation, and maintenance (O&M), and report writing.
  • Support project managers and subject matter experts in evaluating emerging and innovative technologies, including PFAS.
  • Support the development, planning, and implementation of sampling programs for multi-media environmental sampling, addressing impacts to soil, groundwater, sediment, and surface water.
  • Draft key text elements of proposals, planning documents, and project reports.
  • Develop technical specifications, scopes, and cost estimates to support procurement of subcontractors including environmental remediation contractors, drillers, analytical laboratories, etc., and assist evaluation of bids and pricing.
  • Perform field inspections and monitoring activities at client sites, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Obtain Professional Engineer (PE) registration if not already held.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to produce successful projects.
  • Prepare all work products in accordance with Tetra Tech QA/QC programs and professional engineering standards.
  • Provide marketing and business development support to proposal leads.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or environmental engineering.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in environmental investigation, remedial design, and remedial construction.
  • Fundamental understanding of sampling environmental media, including groundwater, soil, sediment, air, or biological tissue.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and develop technical documents and tabular presentations of data.
  • Experience with RI/FS, assessment, and remedial design/action governed by CERCLA on Federal projects.
  • Experience in PFAS investigation and/or treatment projects.
  • Experience working with permitting, natural/cultural resources, and construction management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is highly desired.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software, including Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Up to 25% travel required.
  • Current HAZWOPER certification is desirable.
  • Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.
