About the role
Our Southeast Environmental Business is looking for an Environmental Engineer to join their team in the Atlanta area. This role will support and manage GHD’s existing environmental projects in Georgia and surrounding states in the southeast. Key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Support and manage GHD’s existing environmental projects in Georgia and surrounding states.
- Work on a diverse portfolio of environmental assessment, remediation, and compliance projects.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams through the planning, design, and execution of environmental compliance, due diligence, assessment, and remedial programs.
- Build strong client relationships through clear, proactive communication.
- Support GHD clients in addressing environmental liabilities and concerns, turning challenges into opportunities for sustainable outcomes.
- Hands-on in the field, planning and implementing work such as sample and data collection, monitoring well installation, groundwater monitoring, and remediation system operation and maintenance.
- Coordinate remedial action activities and oversee contractors and field staff when required.
Requirements
This role requires a strong technical background in environmental assessment, remediation, compliance, and/or due diligence. Specific requirements include:
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
- 4-10 years of environmental project experience including the coordination and management of projects consisting of site investigation, remediation, and monitoring.
- Experience completing multi-media site investigation and remediation tasks.
- Experience in coordinating and simultaneously balancing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation.
- Experience with environmental due diligence (Phase I/II ESAs) is a plus.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should have:
- Ability to travel throughout GA, AL, SC, and NC to undertake field work when needed (estimated up to 25%-50% of the time), potentially on short notice and potentially for up to several weeks at a time.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with engineering drawings and engineering solutions design.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions.
- Ability to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace.
- Experience with data collection and analysis.
- Personal capability building through participation in assessment and development planning activities, formal and informal training, and gaining or maintaining external professional accreditation.
- Understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
