About the Role
The Environmental Control Operator is responsible for ensuring that the nickel, nox scrubbers, TSS and neutralization whole flow environmental systems and processes are operated and are maintained at the required performance level.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and operate waste water and air scrubbing systems
- Add chemicals as needed
- Watch for proper nickel flocculation and precipitation
- Check for proper pH ranges
- Check NOX scrubber circulation tank
- Label stored chemicals according to OSHA regulations
- Clean and store empty containers
- Maintain chemical inventory reports
- Participate in Emergency Response System
- Store wastes properly
- Take readings and log information on chiller, boiler and air compressor as necessary
- Keep waste treatment area neat and clean
- Any other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Satisfactorily complete Chemical Safe Handling and Operations Training within first 6 months of employment
- Capable of working in a chemical environment
- Current HAZWOPER training, or ability to become certified with 6 months of hire
- Current Forklift training or ability to become certified with 30 days of hire
- Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal direction
- Able to wear a respirator (no facial hair which would interfere with fit)
- Able to work overtime as needed - sometimes on a short notice or on weekends
Pay
Compensation and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Shift: Sunday-Thursday, 10:30pm - 7:30am
