Environmental Consultant/Asbestos Inspector
About the role
You will work alongside experienced environmental professionals performing field inspections, air monitoring, and environmental sampling on a variety of commercial, industrial, institutional, and public-sector projects. We are looking for motivated individuals who enjoy field work, problem-solving, and working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
Responsibilities
- Perform project monitoring and air sampling for asbestos, lead, mold, radon, indoor air quality, and other environmental contaminants.
- Congduct visual inspections and clearance inspections on active construction and abatement sites.
- Assist with asbestos, lead-based paint, and hazardous materials inspections.
- Perform field sampling activities, including radon, mold, water, and industrial hygiene sampling.
- Prepare accurate field documentation and assist with technical report preparation.
- Communicate project findings, field observations, and site conditions with project managers and clients.
- Support compliance with NYS regulations, OSHA standards, and company safety procedures.
- Assist with laboratory support, data entry, and additional field support activities as needed.
- Maintain professionalism and strong client service while working at active job sites and occupied facilities.
- Support additional environmental and regulated building materials projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience in asbestos, lead, home inspection, construction inspection, environmental services, industrial hygiene, field testing, or a related field preferred.
- Current asbestos certifications are preferred but not required for entry-level candidates willing to obtain certifications.
- OSHA training preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in field environments and active construction sites.
- Comfortable working in varying environmental and weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate a motor vehicle for field testing and inspections
- Willingness and ability to travel to client projects sites locally on a regular basis and nationally up to 20% of the time
- Ability to pass a drug screening, background check, and vision test
- Physically capable of lifting up to 30 lbs and wearing a respirator and other required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Pay
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr. Actual compensation will be based on the candidate’s knowledge, skills, certifications, and experience.
