Essential Functions Of The Job
- Manage and oversee local, state, and federal environmental regulations and Luxfer policy.
- Proactively research and maintain awareness of changes in regulations and facilitate communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization.
- Develop and execute programs through partnerships with engineering, maintenance, and operations.
- Maintain and enhance the facilities ISO 14001 Certification.
- Lead regulatory agency interactions, permit evaluation and processing, and new process and technology introduction.
- Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Luxfer standards.
- Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately.
- Submit time-critical reports to various governmental agencies.
- Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and accompanying regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective actions.
- Conduct regular environmental audits to assess compliance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions in collaboration with local operations leadership and teams.
- Develop and oversee waste management programs, including hazardous waste disposal.
- Provide training to employees on environmental policies, procedures, and best practices, fostering a culture of environmental responsibility.
- Coordinate environmental impact assessments for new projects, operations, or changes to existing processes, ensuring potential environmental risks are identified and mitigated.
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and internal management.
- Partner with Safety Manager on overlapping programs.
- Serve as a back-up for Safety Manager.
Job Skills And Requirements
- Technical Knowledge of EPA Regulations, Hazardous Waste Management, relevant Environmental Programs (including but not limited to SWPPP, SPCC, HAZCOM), Environmental Permits and Recordkeeping.
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail.
- ISO 14001 Internal Auditor Certification.
- Preferred: Strong project management and organizational skills, Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, Certifications in environmental management (e.g., CEM, CHMM) are a plus, Strong knowledge and utilization of Microsoft Office products, Experience with CERS and SMARTS CA specific web based environmental solutions.
