Environmental Compliance Specialist
EnSafe is looking for an Environmental Compliance Specialist to work from our office in Bowling Green, KY. EnSafe Inc. is an employee-owned, global professional services firm specializing in custom solutions in Environmental Management and Planning, Civil Design Engineering, Environmental Restoration, Natural & Water Resources, Health & Safety, and Technology.
About the role
EnSafe’s Environmental Compliance specialists evaluate the compliance status of industrial facilities, assist in applying for and complying with environmental permits, and help facilities identify and meet other environmental obligations. The role involves providing pragmatic, cost-effective strategies for maintaining compliance, minimizing liabilities, and improving environmental performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform environmental inspections at client facilities
- Develop and revise various EPA and/or OSHA regulatory written programs (SPCC, stormwater plans, groundwater protection plans, waste minimization plans, etc.)
- Complete annual EPCRA reports (e.g., Tier 2, Form R) and other reporting (NetDMR, EPA CDX system, etc.)
- Perform air emission calculations and reporting
- Conduct regulatory research
- Perform regulatory training at client facilities
- EHS sample collection, monitoring, and reporting (soil sampling, hazardous waste characterization sampling, stormwater sampling, wastewater sampling, industrial hygiene monitoring)
- Subcontractor oversight and management of field health and safety
- Prepare labor/material estimates and proposals
Requirements
- BS in Environmental, Biology, Chemistry, or equivalent sciences
- 3 years’ experience in EHS consulting (including internships) preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills while working on multiple projects for multiple clients
- Meticulous attention to detail, good listening, and note-taking skills
- HAZWOPER 40 hr. certification preferred
- Regular travel to client locations (local, regional, and occasional national) with some overnight or extended stays
- Ability to work independently with little to no oversight in select circumstances
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Valid Driver’s license
