About the Role

As an Environmental (Scientist/Engineer) Assistant Project Manager at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC), you'll be a key part of project teams navigating today's complex environmental regulatory landscape. You'll supervise junior scientists/engineers and lead project work to provide environmental services such as Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, subsurface investigations, quarterly/annual reporting, and soil and water remediation projects for commercial, manufacturing, institutional, and solid waste clients.

You will collaborate with clients, contractors, and local regulatory officials to impact the project lifecycle—from conceptual approach development through site investigation planning, implementation, regulatory review, and the remedial process. You will build and strengthen client relationships while gaining extensive project management experience by developing and managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets. Responsibilities

• Supervise junior scientists/engineers and lead project work for environmental services, including Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, subsurface investigations, and remediation projects.
• Develop conceptual approaches, plan and implement site investigations, and guide projects through regulatory review and remedial processes.
• Interpret data, communicate findings to clients, and make recommendations aligned with project objectives.
• Mentor staff-level technical professionals and contribute to their professional development.
• Manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets for complex assignments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and technical specialists.
• Build and strengthen client relationships while ensuring high levels of service.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting or a related field.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Experience conducting Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I & II ESAs) for real estate transactions; ASTM E1527-21 training is a plus.
• Working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations (e.g., RCRA, Act 2, CERCLA, CWA).
• Practical experience with environmental site assessments, investigations, and data interpretation.
• Strong professional communication and technical writing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training is a plus.
• Professional Engineering License (P.E.) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification is a plus.
