Job Summary:
Repsol Renewables North America is seeking an Environmental Affairs and Permitting Associate to join our dynamic team and support the Company’s growing utility-scale wind, solar and energy storage projects across the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Aid in reviewing and implementing federal, state, and local regulatory permitting requirements as they apply to specific projects.
- Collaborate with consultants to prepare site-specific environmental impact studies to evaluate the suitability of a site for a proposed wind energy farm, solar generating station, electric substation, or transmission line.
- Work with project engineers to ensure projects are designed and developed using criteria that recognize all relevant environmental requirements.
- Support in preparing permit applications and interface with federal, state, and local permitting agencies.
- Prepare complex technical reports including site selection studies, environmental impact assessments, compliance audits, and regulatory reviews.
- Support contractors to support environmental compliance during construction.
- Develop environmental career via peer-learning and knowledge sharing with other environmental professionals.
- Travel to project site locations for project reviews.
Requirements:
- Familiarity with environmental laws and regulations that apply to large industrial facilities, including the National Environmental Policy Act, Threatened & Endangered Species Act, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
- Experience in environmental impact assessment and permitting for projects, including specific experience in one or more of the following fields: Environmental Impact Assessments, Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, Subsequent License Renewals and associated Environmental Reports, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System wastewater and construction stormwater discharge permitting, Clean Water Act Sections 404 and 401 permitting, Major source air permitting, Siting and/or Routing Studies, Due Diligence.

- Ability to interact and multitask with project team members, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Collaborative attitude.
Education/Experience:
- A BS in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field, MS preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in environmental compliance, environmental impact assessment, and/or permitting for projects.
- PREFERRED: Experience in ArcGIS mapping and experience in developing interactive maps showing critical environmental resources such as wetlands, critical habitats, and other sensitive receptors.
