Envelope Restoration - Sr. Consultant

About the role

This position is within SOCOTEC’s Building Envelope division. The role involves managing a team of Industry Rope Access (IRA) inspectors and FISP projects, performing periodic rope inspections, and consulting on existing façade design for enhancement or maintenance projects. The successful candidate will engage in forensic review and analysis, bid document and repair detail preparation, direct bidding phases, and construction administration.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Industry Rope Access (IRA) inspectors and FISP projects, including performing periodic rope inspections.
• Consult on existing façade design for enhancement or maintenance projects, including forensic review, bid document preparation, bidding phases, and construction administration.
• Collaborate with various departments on integrated internal services, such as proposal writing and tracking budgetary project requirements.
• Communicate effectively and establish relationships with clients and project management teams.
• Provide cross-functional support to ensure client needs and internal timelines are met.
• Advise on building enclosure performance, constructability, and durability, with familiarity in local building codes, including Energy Codes.
• Document and maintain well-written reports on project-related activities.
• Assist with the oversight and review of Restoration Division staff’s reports and project progress.
• Manage staff or team, fostering training and mentoring.
• Occasionally present white papers or case studies to technical teams.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by your supervisor or manager.

Requirements

• Registered Architect or Professional Engineer preferred.
• Minimum of 8+ years of experience working with building envelope/enclosure and restoration projects.
• Experience with industrial rope access.
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.
• Knowledge of architectural design theories/concepts and local laws/codes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Inspection certificates preferred.
• Excellent PC skills, including experience with Microsoft Word or similar document writing programs.
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment, with proficiency in problem-solving and multitasking.
• Detail-oriented while maintaining a big-picture perspective.
