Room to Read, founded in 2000, is creating a world free from illiteracy and gender inequality by helping children in historically low-income communities develop literacy skills and a habit of reading, and by supporting girls to build skills for success in school and life. To date, Room to Read has benefited over 39 million children across 24 countries and 192,000 communities, with a goal to reach 40 million children by 2025.
Room to Read Bangladesh, operating since 2009, works in Cox’s Bazar, Dhaka, Natore, Moulvibazar, Narail, Jalokhati, Habiganj, and Jamalpur districts. The organization focuses on transforming primary schools to foster independent readers and lifelong learners through teacher capacity building, quality storybook creation, and classroom library establishment. Additionally, the Girls’ Education Portfolio equips girls with skills for secondary school success and life decisions through life-skills education, psychosocial support, and community engagement.
About the role
We are seeking a large number of motivated and detail-oriented individuals to work as Data Collectors for upcoming research projects evaluating our Literacy and Girls’ Education programs.
Responsibilities
- Collect data for comprehensive assessments and evaluations of Room to Read’s programs in Bangladesh.
Requirements
- Proficiency in Bangla language.
- Experience or skills in literacy development, teaching reading, adult literacy, balanced literacy, research and data interpretation, or reading intervention.
