Entry - Mid Level Fire Designer/Engineer

About the role

Fire Designer I and Fire Designer/Engineer II positions are available. These roles involve designing building systems, preparing technical documents, and performing engineering calculations. The positions require a bachelor's degree in engineering and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs calculations and designs basic engineering systems in collaboration with experienced design staff.
• Prepares system layouts, detailed drawings and schematics.
• Reviews shop drawings for conformance to plans and specifications.
• Prepares or modifies reports, plans and designs for projects.
• Supports business development or pursuit activities.
• Communicates with clients as needed for the development and coordination of requirements and scope of work.
• Maintains knowledge and understanding of industry software, including Revit, Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office products.
• Researches and reviews new products, industry trends and evolving codes and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field of engineering (mechanical, electrical, fire protection or architectural).
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience or 4 years with high school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam preferred.
• Additional certifications and accreditations aligned with the relevant technical field preferred.
• Basic proficiency in engineering design.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• High technical aptitude.
• Ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes.
• Team-oriented and willing to collaborate.
• Adaptable to changing work environments and priorities.
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and adjust to coaching.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus.

Qualifications

• Intermediate proficiency in Revit and Bluebeam Revu.
• High technical aptitude.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Team-oriented and willing to collaborate.
• Adaptable to changing work environments and priorities.
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
