Entry Level - Transmission & Driveline Development & Validation
About the role
The Development & Validation Engineer for Automatic Transmission, Driveline and/or Gear Reducers is responsible for designing, developing, and validating components and systems. You will work closely with other engineering groups interacting with the transmission, including transmission & Driveline hardware, software, calibration, thermal management, and engine engineering organizations.
The D&V Test Engineer is responsible for test execution to ensure functional objectives and durability goals are met. This includes test planning, Bill-of-material development, test cell setup and debug, test schedule development, root cause analysis of test stoppages, and leading the test article inspection and report following each test. In the case of test failures, you will initiate root cause analysis and solution development.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and validate components and systems for automatic transmissions, drivelines, and/or gear reducers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, including hardware, software, calibration, thermal management, and engine engineering.
- Plan and execute tests to meet functional objectives and durability goals.
- Develop test plans, Bill-of-Materials (BOM), and test schedules.
- Set up and debug test cells.
- Perform root cause analysis of test stoppages and failures.
- Lead test article inspection and reporting after each test.
- Initiate root cause analysis and solution development for test failures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Engineering experience in Automatic Transmission, Driveline, or Gear Reducer design, development, calibration, or controls via internship.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with basic PC software (e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
- Highly motivated, self-directed, and able to manage multiple complex projects.
- Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Engineering.
