Entry Level Technology Designer

We are looking for a Technology Designer to apply technical documentation and problem-solving skills gained through undergraduate studies and previous roles. Under the direction of senior engineers and designers, you will produce project deliverables, translating client requirements into program documents, construction drawings, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Review notes from senior engineers and document in programming guides
• Set up drawings and complete markups as directed by senior engineers
• Prepare detailed equipment schedules
• Develop knowledge of building codes and industry standards
• Read and interpret plans and specifications
• Edit specifications as needed
• Survey existing buildings to identify technology systems and components
• Review submittals for compliance with contract documents
• Observe and report on technology construction work in progress
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers on overlapping systems
• Work on diverse projects, including new construction and renovations for commercial, retail, multi-dwelling residential, hotel, education, and hospital properties
• Pursue expertise in areas such as Structured Cabling, Networking, Wi-Fi, Security Systems, Audiovisual Systems, or Smart Buildings
• Work toward or achieve industry certifications (BICSI, AVIXA, or ASIS)
• Develop proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit production tools
• Interact with project team members and complete assigned work on time

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• 0 – 3 years’ experience
• Interest in Electrical and Technology Systems
• AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred
• Ability to take verbal and written direction
• Excellent note-taking and documentation skills with attention to detail
• Superior time management skills
• Eagerness to learn and ask questions

Pay

Expected base salary range: $50,000 to $70,000 per year, with eligibility for performance-based bonuses. Actual compensation determined by skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
