Entry Level Technician

Responsibilities

  • Shadow hands-on training senior staff/group leaders for a training period up to six months.
  • Provide technical support and information to customers and field sales staff as needed, until completion of service request.
  • Follow ECI QA procedures and work instructions as directed in ECI service shop and on site.
  • Respond to scheduled and unscheduled repairs.
  • Performs assembly and assists with troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs on related instrumentation.
  • Responsible for assembling and disassembling of components and instrumentation as instructed.
  • Performs calibration on mechanical and electronic instruments, machinery, and components.
  • Able to work during outage season and adhere to vacation blackouts (typically October and April each year).
  • Able to respond to occasional on-call requests outside the regular work hours.
  • Notifies supervisor regarding parts or equipment in need of repair or replacement.
  • Performs all duties according to safety procedures and safety best practices.
  • Extensive travel required for this position—overnight stays are common; valid driver’s license is required.
  • Able to take to Mechanical Aptitude Test and submit to random drug and alcohol testing through DISA program.
  • Notifies supervisor of any safety concerns on or off-site.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Up to 2 years’ experience preferred in the field or in a related area.
  • Ability and knowledge of how to use hand tools.
  • Ability to understand instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform necessary functions of the job.
  • Strong technical aptitude.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under immediate supervision as well as independently—constantly checking in with supervisor if he/she does not know the next step or the answer.
  • Curiosity and desire to learn.
  • Valid Driver’s License and safe driving record
