Entry Level Surveyor
Responsibilities
- Transmit survey data to the appropriate files in the computer network and acquire data for field use as directed.
- Accurately and efficiently clear line, establish points, and perform taping, chaining, and leveling for field survey projects as assigned by the Crew Chief.
- Maintain the crew’s assigned vehicle in a clean and orderly condition, ensuring it is properly stocked with necessary equipment and supplies, and report any mechanical or safety-related issues to the Crew Chief.
- Load, transport, clean, and store field surveying equipment used by the crew in a safe and organized manner.
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with other crew members to support the timely and accurate completion of assigned projects.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic, on active construction sites, or in other potentially hazardous environments.
- Accurately identify various types of trees encountered while performing field survey work, as needed for project requirements.
- Perform physically demanding tasks including standing, walking, using hands and tools, reaching with arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and lifting or moving up to 50–75 pounds.
- Support accurate utility locating and related tasks when assigned to SUE or utility-focused projects.
- Demonstrate reliability and motivation by consistently reporting to work on time, working full 10-hour days, and contributing to a positive team environment.
Essential Skills
- Ability to perform sustained physical labor outdoors in Florida conditions, including heat, humidity, insects, and wildlife, for 10-hour workdays.
- Capability to lift and move 50–75 pounds and perform frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, and other physical activities required in field survey work.
- Reliable work ethic with strong motivation to work hard, learn, and progress in the surveying field.
- Aptitude to learn the survey industry, including the ability to understand and apply basic survey concepts and procedures.
- Good basic math skills to support accurate measurement, calculation, and data recording in the field.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with crew members and supervisors.
- Comfort working in construction, land surveying, landscaping, or other manual labor environments.
- Able to learn surveying techniques and equipment operation under guidance from experienced crew members.
- Experience working outside in Florida elements such as heat and variable weather conditions.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
