Entry Level Software Developer
About the role
The Leidos Maritime ASET team has an opening for a junior (entry level) software developer to work on the design and coding with software solutions for a 6 month – temporary to permanent hire position. The ideal candidate has a familiarity with and a baseline understanding of software development concepts, developing coding skills using different tools, and ambition towards future projects in support of the mission.
Primary Responsibilities
- Possess competence with Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Work with Docker, AWS Cloud, and have familiarity with JSON APIs.
- Create and document new and existing functionality within software version control repositories (GitLab).
- Utilize DevOps principals and tools to deliver new features within an Agile construct.
- Develop configurations and features for processing Safety of Navigation (SoN) data through an Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Machine Learning (ML) application.
- Develop API and integrate databases for interaction with React frameworks, using various open-source packages for visualization and data filtering.
- Apply best practices in unit and build testing.
- Collaborate with team members to assess tickets ensuring proper testing and functionality per User Story Acceptance Criteria.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 0+ years of prior relevant experience.
- 0+ years of experience with Python.
- 0+ years of experience with modern JavaScript development framework.
- 0+ years of experience with unit testing, continuous integration tools, and Gitlab version control.
- Proactive self-starter with a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in software development projects or software integration projects in a service-oriented environment (Cloud, SOA, Web-Services) or virtualization environment.
- Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work, follow tasks to their logical conclusion, and make sure everything is done to the right standard.
- Good attention to detail.
- Able to communicate clearly and efficiently to team members and clients, verbally and in writing.
- Able to present ideas in a variety of ways depending upon audience and context.
- US Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 0+ years of experience with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and/or Computer Vision (CV) Technologies (AWS Textract, Tesseract, OpenCV).
- 0+ years of experience with AWS cloud formation templates and/or AWS CDK.
- Experience with 2D data (HTML Canvas, OpenLayers, Leaflet, GeoJSON, Godot).
- AWS Solutions or DevOps certification.
- Team Collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $57,850.00 - $104,575.00
