About the role
Gerdau seeks an individual to work and assist as directed by the Facilitator. Responsibilities include operating equipment, monitoring equipment, moving and handling materials, processing product, maintaining a safe work area through housekeeping, and demonstrating the ability to qualify for sequential positions.
Responsibilities
- Operate equipment in work area.
- Maintain safe work area through housekeeping, general clean-up, and 5S.
- Move, handle and prepare material in work area.
- Process product to move to next work area.
- Monitor equipment in work area.
- Possess and demonstrate ability to qualify for sequential positions in the line of progression.
- Acquire and maintain valid equipment permits as needed per work area.
- Maintain spare parts and supplies as needed for work area.
- Quality checks and inspection as required. Utilization of EMM & GBS concepts.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a written test with a minimum of 70%.
- Basic math and computer skills.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills
- Ability to observe and follow Integrated Policy (Health and Safety, Environmental and Quality).
- Ability to maintain a valid lift truck license.
- Ability to observe and follow all general and departmental safety rules and regulations (including Cardinal Safety Rules).
- Ability to complete annual environmental training, if applicable.
- Ability to observe and follow all general and departmental environmental procedures, practices, and regulations.
- Ability to perform spill containment and response.
- Ability to control fugitive dust.
