The Director of Libraries oversees a staff of 64 employees and an operating budget of over $6.5 million dollars. The library facility covers 60,000 square feet and is one of the busiest libraries in the state, with 750,000 visitors in 2007.
Responsibilities
- Oversees a staff of 64 employees and an operating budget of over $6.5 million dollars.
- Manages a library facility covering 60,000 square feet.
- Provides leadership and direction to a team of librarians and support staff.
- Ensures the library's services and resources meet the needs of the community.
- Works closely with other city departments and community partners to enhance library services.
Requirements
- At least five years of management experience as a Library Director or Assistant Library Director.
- An MLS degree from an ALA accredited school.
- A strong commitment to public service and community engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage a diverse workforce and budget.
Qualifications
- Experience in managing a large-scale library system.
- Knowledge of current trends in library technology and services.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for library growth and improvement.
