About the role
The Maintenance Mechanic & Parts Driver role involves performing routine maintenance on various types of vehicles and equipment, including passenger trucks, commercial trucks, and heavy machinery used in the tree care industry. The primary responsibilities include driving a company vehicle throughout the greater Bay Area to pick up and deliver parts, servicing vehicles, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
Responsibilities
- Serve as our primary parts driver, driving a company vehicle throughout the Bay Area to pick up/deliver parts, special orders, and other necessities for the Fleet team.
- Deliver and pick up vehicles needing service.
- Perform preventative service maintenance, diagnoses, and repairs on autos, light trucks, large trucks, and equipment related to the tree care industry.
- Check and change car fluids, filters, windshield wipers, and parts as needed. Check tire pressure, change brake pads, rotors, sensors, etc.
- Perform standard inspections and tests.
- Update our Tatem’s database online to meet compliance and regulatory standards; enter inventory.
- Clean and organize each location's work area when not driving or working on a mechanical project.
- Once trained, utilize hand tools and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot mechanical issues.
- Other projects as time allows.
Requirements
- A current California Driver’s License with a clean driving record, meaning no moving violations, accidents, or points for the past five years.
- Seven years of driving experience, preferably behind the wheel of a vehicle similar to those used in the tree care industry.
- Natural mechanical inclination and interest in cars, trucks, and heavy equipment.
- One or more years of hands-on experience, or a combination of high school training or trade school and hands-on experience.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Ability to lift at least 30 pounds regularly and climb under and onto large vehicles and equipment.
- A career goal to become a full-time mechanic.
Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish (a bonus).

Pay
$19.50 to $24.00 per hour based on experience.
Schedule
Full-time/permanent position with flexible scheduling to accommodate the needs of the job and the employee.
