Entry-Level Field Technician - Corpus Christi, TX

Professional Service Industries, Inc. (Intertek-PSI) is a leading US based provider of construction assurance, testing and inspection in civil and commercial construction. Our broad service offering includes construction materials testing, geotechnical services, environmental engineering, industrial hygiene, and specialty testing.
What you'll do
- Performs a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures
- Operates testing equipment and conducts testing (example: Soil, concrete or other) and provides assessment of data through reporting
- Works utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams
- Uses specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks
- Makes detailed observations and gives limited interpretation of results
- Maintains detailed documentation and data from test results
- Operates a calculator to calculate mathematical test results
- Communicates effectively with client and project teams
- Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
Minimum requirements & qualifications
- Valid driver's license and reliable driving record is required
- Must be able and willing to travel within three hours to other cities to assist with materials testing
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull up to 50 pounds if needed. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound
- Ability to kneel and squat occasionally
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold)
- Ability to climb occasionally
Preferred requirements & qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, and/or College Degree
- 2 years' work experience in construction
- Previous construction materials testing experience
- Third party certifications related to construction material testing (ACI, ICC, and/or Asphalt Certifications)
Pay & benefits
The base wage or salary range for this position is $16.00 - $20.00. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
