Entry-Level Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing

Intertek, a Nationally Recognized Testing Lab (NRTL) and leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking an Entry-Level Field Technician (Construction Materials Testing) to join our Professional Services Industries Inc. Intertek's Building and Construction division provides innovative project solutions and serves as a risk management and quality assurance partner to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of new developments, existing assets, and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under general supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
• Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (e.g., soil, concrete) while providing assessment of data through reporting.
• Work utilizing drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
• Use specific methods to observe site activities and perform tasks.
• Make detailed observations and provide limited interpretation of results.
• Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
• Operate a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
• Communicate effectively with client and project teams.
• Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.

Requirements

• Basic math, calculator, and computer skills.
• Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal and written communication.
• Ability to read and understand work plans.
• Ability to work off shifts and overtime.
• Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently; occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make discriminations in sound.
• Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
• Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
• Ability to climb occasionally.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
• Experience performing field and/or laboratory construction materials testing is preferred but not required.
• ACI, ICC, or TNDOT certifications are preferred.
