Entry-Level Civil Engineer - Transportation/Highway (DOT)
About the Role
As an entry-level Civil Engineer in our Transportation group, you will support the design of highway and bridge projects for DOT clients. Working under a Professional Engineer, you'll gain hands-on experience with roadway design, including plan development and construction documentation, while building the technical foundation needed to progress toward your PE license.
Responsibilities
- Assist with roadway and transportation design for highway and bridge projects
- Support plan production, including drawings, modeling, and design calculations
- Assist with quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Help prepare construction documents and plan sets
- Contribute to problem-solving with guidance from licensed engineers
- Support project teams through the coordination and completion of assigned tasks
- Assist with construction administration activities, including RFIs and submittals
- Participate in field observations and site visits as needed
- Develop technical skills and apply engineering principles to real-world projects

- $70,000-$80,000 base pay (Compensation for this role is based on experience, qualifications, and geographic location)

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction engineering technology, or equivalent ABET-accredited engineering program
- 0–3+ years of experience with civil engineering design and construction projects
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) professional designation preferred or willing to obtain soon after hire
- Exposure to engineering design software such as AutoCAD or Civil3D
- Technical mindset for troubleshooting and resolving complex problems
- Strong communication, both verbal and written
- Possess a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record is required for periodic travel
