About the role
The School of Engineering at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a dynamic, part-time Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced entrepreneur to mentor the next generation of innovators and help shape our engineering programs.
Responsibilities
- Mentor Students: Advise student teams on entrepreneurial ventures, business plan development, securing early-stage funding, and pitching to investors.
- Support Faculty: Collaborate with faculty on identifying commercial potential for research and developing effective teaching methods for innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Host Workshops: Lead practical workshops and seminars on topics such as lean startup methodologies, intellectual property, and market analysis.
- Connect to Industry: Act as a liaison to the regional and national entrepreneurial ecosystem, connecting students and faculty with key industry partners and potential investors.
Qualifications
- Significant, verifiable hands-on experience as a founder, co-founder, or early-stage leader in a technology or engineering-focused venture.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering or science is strongly preferred.
- Preferred: Experience in technology transfer, successful funding rounds (seed, Series A), and prior mentorship/advisory roles.
Employer Qualifications
Employment at TCNJ is contingent upon the successful completion of an applicable background check, reference checks, and verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States (Form I-9).
