Enterprise Systems Technical Project Manager
Responsibilities
- Applies project management techniques, up to and including the most complex and advanced, to independently perform research and studies, up to and including the most complex, for internal department and external campus, medical center or Office of the President constituencies.
- Regularly leads analyses determining approaches, sources of data, methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain project results.
- Leads highly complex assessments of needs and technical tool deployment strategies to meet the requirements of all stakeholders at various levels; works closely with other leads, managers, functional owners, control points, and technical partners to ensure data, processes, and tools meet current needs and anticipated UCSF future needs.
- Manages the project management process for UCSF administrative, such as ERP products and services, Web projects with broad, campuswide, medical center, or Office of the President, institution-wide, and / or multi-institutional scope.
- Directs and analyzes project proposals and reports.
- May provide guidance to other Project Leads/managers.
- Directs, initiates, and designs projects critical to the campus, medical center, or Office of the President.
- Has overall project management responsibility for broad, campus-wide, medical center or Office of the President, institution-wide, and/or multi-institutional projects.
- Assembles and directs large project teams, designs highly detailed and complex project plans and schedules, and may oversee budget and resources.
- Oversees all aspects of large projects from initiation through delivery, including system integration, project, campus, medical center, or Office of the President, and community communications, interacting with vendors and managing risk.
- Organizes the interdepartmental or multi-institutional activities with the goal of completing the project on schedule and within budget constraints.
- May lead a team of technical project management professionals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
- 5+ years of experience managing projects in enterprise applications.
- Minimum 5+ years of related experience.
- Expert knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, and frameworks with demonstrated success delivering large-scale, complex enterprise programs.
- Prominent experience leading Oracle Cloud ERP (HCM, Finance, SCM) implementations, enhancements, and release management cycles.
- Strong experience managing hybrid portfolios including: ERP platforms, Enterprise web/portal (e.g., Drupal), Custom application development.
- Deep understanding of enterprise architecture and integration patterns, including APIs, middleware (e.g., MuleSoft), and cross-system data flows.
- Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end delivery including scope, schedule, budget, risk, quality, and stakeholder expectations across large, cross-functional teams.
- Experience managing complex system integrations, data migration, reporting, and extensions within enterprise ecosystems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid delivery models, adapting approach based on project type (ERP vs digital).
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate risks, develop mitigation strategies, and manage competing priorities in high-pressure environments.
- Proven leadership skills with experience leading cross-functional teams, influencing without authority, and mentoring project managers.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and influence executive leadership and diverse stakeholders.
- Strong vendor management experience, including working with system integrators (e.g., Deloitte) and third-party partners.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across business, IT, and operational teams to deliver organization-wide outcomes.
