About the role
The Enterprise Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, support, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure systems and campus data center services, including cloud and on-premises environments, e-mail systems, virtualization, authentication services, storage, backup and recovery, and infrastructure monitoring systems. The incumbent provides advanced technical support, troubleshoots and resolves complex infrastructure issues, supports disaster recovery and high-availability environments, and collaborates with Infrastructure Services staff to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient enterprise operations.
Responsibilities
- Administer, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise infrastructure systems, including Windows and Linux servers, cloud services, virtualization platforms, storage systems, and data center technologies.
- Support and manage enterprise services such as Active Directory, authentication systems, Microsoft O365, e-mail systems, cloud-hosted applications, and infrastructure monitoring platforms.
- Configure and support cloud infrastructure environments, including AWS and Microsoft Azure services and related integrations.
- Provide advanced Tier 3 technical support by independently diagnosing and resolving complex infrastructure and systems issues.
- Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions to ensure business continuity and system reliability.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts, technical documentation, operational procedures, and infrastructure standards to improve efficiency and supportability.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure Services staff, Security and Compliance teams, project teams, vendors, and campus stakeholders to design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and reliable enterprise technology solutions.
Requirements
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure systems, including Windows and Linux operating systems, virtualization technologies, cloud services, storage systems, backup solutions, and data center operations.
- Knowledge of identity and access management systems, including Active Directory, authentication services, certificate management, and cloud-based authentication workflows.
- Ability to configure, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise systems and infrastructure services in both on-premises and cloud environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft O365.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and independently develop and implement effective solutions to maintain system reliability, availability, and security.
- Skill in scripting and automation technologies to support systems integration, process automation, infrastructure management, and operational efficiency.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, support mission-critical systems, and participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create technical documentation, provide training and knowledge transfer, and effectively collaborate with technical staff, management, vendors, and campus stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft, AWS, Azure, VMware, Linux, Security+, or related certifications are desirable.
- Experience implementing and supporting disaster recovery, backup/recovery, and high-availability solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create technical documentation, procedures, and training materials for technical and non-technical audiences.
