Enterprise - Platform Engineer - AWS, Ansible, Python

About the role

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in Cloud technology (AWS), programming skills in Go, and a strong Linux foundation. You will significantly contribute to the development of custom software components and integration of open-source code to address complex problems through the use of cutting-edge Big Data/Cloud technology. The ideal candidate is a strong systems integrator with an eye for opportunity to enhance, optimize, or increase robustness of an existing code base.

This position allows partial telework and is performed in a hybrid environment with a great team. A current U.S. Government Security clearance is not required at start, but you will be processed for a Secret level clearance; U.S. citizenship is required. Candidates with a current Secret or TS level clearance are also welcome.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications
• Develop and deploy infrastructure in AWS using infrastructure as code and modern tools to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud
• Work autonomously to identify and solve problems quickly while aligning with broader strategic goals set by Architects on the team
• Leverage Kubernetes (or vendor flavors), Ansible, and storage layers (e.g., Ceph, Rook, Longhorn)
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Nine plus (9+) years of experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; or seven (7) years of relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field; or a High School Diploma or equivalent and thirteen (13) years of relevant experience
• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS
• Experience with Kubernetes (or vendor flavor), Ansible, and storage layers (e.g., Ceph, Rook, Longhorn)
• Programming skills in languages like Python or Go
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our Columbia, MD office; flexibility to adapt to schedule changes as needed

Desired Skills

• Prior experience or familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (e.g., Cloudera’s Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, MapR)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab-CI, Travis-CI, Jenkins)
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, GitHub, GitLab)
• Experience with Puppet, Maven, or virtualization (oVirt, Proxmox, VMware)
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications (may be required as directed by the customer)

Pay

The expected salary range for this position is $150,000 - $265,000, depending on education and years of experience.
