About the Role
We are looking for an Enteric Student Investigator to support enteric disease investigations and surveillance activities. This position is part-time and hybrid in Indianapolis, IN. Only work authorizations that will not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Conduct medical record searches
- Interview patients by telephone using a standardized questionnaire
- Contact provider offices and hospitals to obtain patient information
- Enter case investigations into the Indiana state surveillance system (NBS)
- Enter and process infectious disease lab results sent by laboratories and providers
- Communicate with local health department personnel about potential patient exclusions from work, school, or daycare
- Support outbreak and cluster investigations as needed
- Assist with side projects or data analysis activities, as needed
- Attend ongoing training opportunities during the 1-year program
Requirements
- Must be a graduate, upper-level undergraduate, or recent graduate
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
- Public health studies or experience
Physical Demands
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
- Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
- Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person
- Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Pay
$15 per hour
